canada part one

we're on a slow route to vancouver from the andamans...kolkata to bangkok to beijing...here is wat suthat, the temple of immeasurable charm in bangkok.

this life size and very detailed monk statue gave us a bit of a startle at first glance.

new haircut!

beijing's new airport. an impressive building...but other than that very bland. thankfully there is wifi.

nearly there, flying over alaska.

vancouver! jet lagged and wide awake quite early...so its tim hortons coffee and walks around downtown.

we finally met our little nephew cedar. always happy (nearly)...even when feeling a little ill.

proud father daniel.

nice mountain views from the nearby park.

jump.

nap time on mama verena's lap.

we stayed with the wonderful jonathan (trekking mate in nepal) and julie where we were treated to all sorts of canadian things we've missed...ceasars, bbq, canadian beer and hockey on a high definition flat screen television.
thank you!

more cedar...can you blame us?

out for a walk in lynn canyon, north vancouver.

the suspension bridge 50m above lynn creek.

the damp, lush, green forests of north vancouver.

cedar playing at his weekly kindergym session.

an 8 hour drive from vancouver and we meet up with the lovely erin in nelson. thanks for the yummy meal!

fun sisters erin and joanne! drinks! live music! fun!

ma and pa drive to nelson to meet us...very very nice.

one of many nice dwellings in nelson.

just outside nelson, along kootenay lake, we take a dip in the ainsworth hotsprings.

and now the scenic drive to calgary...

back home in calgary, at the ship and anchor for some pints.
