aahhhh...the (relatively) untouched paradise of havelock island.
we settled on the quieter side of the island...by radha nagar beach. long, wide, with white sand and backed by a forest. perfect.
and our favourite calm and nearly always deserted stretch of beach called 'the lagoon'.
village no.7. no phones, no internet...just a shop and some restaurants.
the lovely bikash. his wife and sister cooked us the best food...so we ate there everyday for 16 days.
our hut.
little crabs roll up little sand balls (probably marking their territory) resulting in many unique patterns all along the beach.
heading to the lagoon.
the lagoon.
loads of these little fellas on the beach.
scooter ride.
each night we find froggys.
on this day hindus celebrate holi, marking the start of spring...coloured water and powder (gulal) is thrown/wiped on everyone. fun.
this victim is pointing out the tourists (us and some others) that were colourless...shortly after we were covered.
gulal for sale.
a short walk through the jungle, and sometimes (at high tide) wading through water and we are at yet another beautiful beach called elephant beach.
known for good scuba and snorkeling...there was lots of amazing sealife on display.
a tiny colourful lizard crossed our path.
some seniour indian military official was visiting havelock, so a display was put on.
the forest.
coconuts for only 10 rupees.
the undefeated ferry captain, at times taking on three people at once. the boat must have been on autopilot.
sunsetting on our eastern trip...now back home to canada.
